ભારતમાં ઇલેક્ટ્રોનિક્સ અને IT ઉત્પાદનોની સલામતી, ગુણવત્તા અને કાયદેસર બજાર પ્રવેશ સુનિશ્ચિત કરવામાં Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) મહત્વપૂર્ણ ભૂમિકા ભજવે છે.
BIS ભારતની National Standards Body છે. તે Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 હેઠળ કાર્ય કરે છે. આ કાયદો 12 ઓક્ટોબર 2017થી અમલમાં આવ્યો હતો.
ઇલેક્ટ્રોનિક્સ ક્ષેત્રમાં Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) મહત્વપૂર્ણ compliance mechanism છે. MeitY દ્વારા BIS સાથે મળીને CRS 2012માં રજૂ કરવામાં આવી હતી.
CRS હેઠળ laptops, tablets, smartphones, LED lights, power adapters અને smartwatches જેવા અનેક electronic અને IT products આવરી લેવામાં આવે છે.
મહત્વપૂર્ણ Indian Standards:
• IS 13252 (Part 1):2010 – Information Technology Equipment માટે safety requirements.
• IS 19014 (IS/IEC 62368-1:2023) – Audio/Video, Information and Communication Technology Equipment માટે unified safety standard.
• IS 16333 (Part 3):2022 – ભારતમાં વેચાતા mobile handsetsમાં Indian language support માટે.
• IS 616:2017 – Television, speakers અને projectors જેવા audio/video electronic apparatus માટે safety requirements.
• IS 16046 (Part 1 & 2):2018 – Smartphones, laptops અને power banksમાં વપરાતી lithium-ion અને lithium-polymer batteries માટે.
• IS 16047 (Part 3):2018 / IEC 61960-3:2017 – Battery capacity verification માટે.
• IS 10322 series, IS 16102 અને IS 16103 – LED lighting products માટે.
• IS/IEC 62680-1-3:2022 – USB Type-C charging standard માટે.
CRS registration માટે productનું testing BIS-recognized અને NABL-accredited laboratoryમાં કરવામાં આવે છે. ત્યારબાદ જરૂરી documents સાથે BIS MANAK portal પર application કરવામાં આવે છે. મંજૂરી મળ્યા બાદ BIS દ્વારા unique R-number આપવામાં આવે છે.
તાજેતરના update મુજબ, MeitY દ્વારા 21 સપ્ટેમ્બર 2026ના notification હેઠળ smartphone screen protectors માટે IS 19348:2025 અનુસાર BIS certification ફરજિયાત કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. આ નિયમ 1 એપ્રિલ 2027થી લાગુ થશે અને 31 માર્ચ 2027 સુધી transition period રહેશે.
